KLEINBURG, Ont. - Three generations of Cape Dorset artists are featured in an exhibition organized by the McMichael Canadian Art Collection to mark the 50th anniversary of the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative.

Almost 90 prints, drawings and sculptures - many of them on loan from the co-operative - are on display.

Well-known artists represented include Pitseolak Ashoona, Kenojuak Ashevak, Kananginak Pootoogook and Pudlo Pudlat.

"Remaining in close relationship with the natural environment, (these artists) recreate a powerful story of a people belonging to the land rather than owning it," the gallery says.

"Nunannguaq: In the Likeness of the Earth" runs until Jan. 17.

Cape Dorset, a centre for Inuit drawing, printmaking and carving, is located on Dorset Island off the southwest tip of Baffin Island in Nunavut.
