SEAFORTH — A message on the website of the Avon Maitland District School Board states the board “will be taking every possible measure to avoid closing a school” as a result of an outbreak of the H1N1 influenza virus.
VARNA – A public meeting will be held Nov. 17 to allow for public consultation and feedback on a community improvement plan for Hensall. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Hensall Community Centre, a decision rendered Monday by Municipality of Bluewater council.

SOUTH HURON — The municipality and Grand Cove Estates continue to disagree about water and wastewater rates. As previously reported, many Grand Cove residents are concerned about the fact they face increased rent as a result of South Huron's new water/wastewater rates.
There may only be a couple of hours to travel between Toronto and Detroit, but the gap between the two cities is getting larger, and not just in the NHL standings.
It really is going to be interesting to see how the Municipality of South Huron deals with Grand Coves Estates’ opposition to the new water rates.

LUCAN – The Lucan Irish continued to struggle last week in games against difficult opponents. Lucan lost 6-2 to Ayr Wednesday night and 10-2 against Delhi Sunday evening.
